BC Transit is delivering five new mobility buses to Fort St. John this month.

The agency announced the city will get five ARBOC Spirit of Mobility buses, which will replace the current fleet used for Fort St. John paratransit services.

Each bus costs $240,000, and are customized for their intended use, with between 17 to 23 seats, according to BC Transit. The buses are low floor and accessible, and allow for up to four wheelchairs.

“Expanding the fleet and bringing in larger buses with more seating will provide a more enjoyable experience for people who ride the bus,” said Parliamentary Secretary Bowinn Ma on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claire Trevena in a news release.

“We are committed to making BC Transit service more accessible, and the new Spirit of Mobility buses will make it easier for people with disabilities to safely get on and off the bus.”

In March, BC Transit unveiled two new, 35-foot Vicinity buses for regular transit.
