BC Hydro has turned up the juice on a new bank of public electric vehicle charging stations in North Vancouver.
The three 180-kilowatt chargers at Westview Shopping Centre can deliver about 180 kilometres of driving range to an EV’s battery in 10 minutes, assuming just one vehicle is plugged in and charging at a time. Each station however can accommodate two EVs at once, delivering a 90-kilowatt charge to up to six cars at once.
Across the province, BC Hydro has now delivered more than 750 public fast charging ports, including 20 in North Vancouver. Other local options are at the Holiday Inn on Old Lillooet Road and on the 100 block of East First Street in Lower Lonsdale.
“North Vancouver’s new charging hub is part of BC Hydro’s growing network across British Columbia,” said North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA Bowinn Ma in a release. “By adding more fast chargers in busy areas, we’re helping drivers across the North Shore and the Lower Mainland make the switch to zero-emission vehicles.”
