Halfway through the term, we’re already three-quarters of the way through our election promises! That’s what the CBC recently reported after they updated their Promise Tracker, which charts every tangible promise our team made during the campaign leading up to the May 2017 election. Since we formed government 23 months ago in July 2017, we’ve followed through or made positive progress on 90 of 122 pledges and a further 18 continue to be underway.
And the results are showing.
Metro Vancouver’s costs of living are decreasing for the first time in over a decade as a result of our investments in child care and the provincial tax burden on average families is dropping with the elimination of MSP premiums. Thousands of new child care spaces are coming online and over 20,000 new government-supported homes are underway or completed. At the same time, we are building dozens of new schools and hospitals all across the province, including right here in North Vancouver while maintaining a ‘AAA’ credit rating and overseeing a red hot jobs economy.
I’m proud to serve with a government that keeps its promises and follows through on our commitments to the best of our ability. We’re working hard for you and the improvements we’ve made are a very good start, but there’s still much more to do. There are still families and seniors struggling to make ends meet, transportation challenges to solve, and global climate change to contend with — which is why we’re not planning on slowing down anytime soon. There’s work to be done and I’m honoured to do it as I serve as your MLA.
In your service,
Bowinn Ma
