Bowinn Ma, B.C.’s minister of emergency management and climate readiness, met with Kamloops council on Tuesday, discussing opportunities to further prepare for and mitigate the impact of disasters.

Ma was seen on the steps of Kamloops city hall Tuesday morning, speaking with mayor and councillors before council resumed its regular meeting.

Council had paused the open portion of the regular meeting at its onset to go into a closed meeting, described as being about the consideration of confidential information related to negotiations between the municipality and other levels of government.

Following her meeting with council, Ma told Castanet Kamloops she was spending the week in the city and surrounding areas to meet with local governments, First Nations communities and search and rescue groups.
